Mathilde Vendramin
is a French cellist, vocalist, and composer based in Berlin. A multifaceted artist, she moves fluidly between roles : sometimes as a singer, sometimes as a cellist, sometimes embracing both, always in search of a musical and theatrical expression that shows vulnerability and embraces the full range of her sensitivity.
With a background in musicology (Université de Strasbourg), classical cello (Conservatoire de Strasbourg, Kunstuniversität Graz), and jazz cello & vocal jazz (Jazz Institut Berlin, UdK Berlin), Mathilde has become a sought-after collaborator across a wide range of ensembles. Beyond her work as a side-woman, she has now fully embraced the role of bandleader and lead composer, shaping projects that reflect her personal artistic vision.
2025 marks a new chapter in her musical journey, with the release of the EP Outline, a duo with pianist Arseny Rykov, exploring subtle dialogues and spontaneous interplay. She will continue this chapter with the release of Écrin in January 2026, featuring her own quartet, where intricate compositions, improvisation, and rich instrumental textures come together to create a distinctive sonic world.
In September 2025, Mathilde had the honor of being invited as a soloist by the Big Band of the Deutsche Oper for the Musikfest Berlin 2025, performing in a sold-out concert at the Berlin Philharmonie alongside Bireli Lagrène and Thomas Pigor.
Alongside her artistic career, Mathilde is a dedicated educator. She teaches in Berlin and leads masterclasses in Germany and France, fostering creativity and improvisational freedom among string players.
